Details / Mods:
-
Bought used March 2009
-
Guitar came with CTS 500k
pots and Sprague Orange Drop caps.
-
Replaced most dressing
components due to wear, knobs, switch washer, pickup rings, and the
Vibrola arm.
-
The handle one the factory
arm, was broken most likely by the case because the Gibson arms have a
crazy steep angle on them. See the last picture for details.
-
Took all the parts off and
buffed the finish with a drill and a Polishing Pad from Stewmac.
Check
here. I used Meguiar's automotive polish and it worked very
nicely.
-
The bridge was kind of crusty
and the string slots were worn wide. I replaced it with a Tonepros
AVR-II bridge. I had to reverse the saddles on the small strings to
get it to intonate.
-
Installed a DPDT Push/Pull
pot on the Neck tone to do phase reversal on the neck pickup.
-
Installed a 560pF cap on the
neck volume as a treble bleed cap.
